- Greg Electrician (57)
- Cherryl Property Manager (57)
Gday from Australia
Greg and I (Cherryl) are in our Fifties but are still very young at heart, have a good sense of humour and like to make the most of our life. We are both non smokers. We love our home and its location spending most of our free time (weather permitting) in our boat on the lake. We both still work and I can not see us retiring in the near future, especially if we want to keep travelling. Greg is an Electrician and I am a Property Manager for a large Motor Dealership.
We have now enjoyed a total of 18 exchanges and 6 hospitality visits. Our first exchange was to the island of Moorea in Tahiti (the above photo was taken with the cat at our home exchange in Moorea) in July 2007 then in following years exchanges in Spain, Paris. Belgium, Germany and France. In 2011 we traveled for 7 weeks to NY, Maine, and Canada - to the US in 2013 and Italy in 2014 enjoying a combination of both exchange and hospitality visits. We have been fortunate to make some lifetime friends along the way who have visited us again when they have returned to Australia.. There are several references attached and we can put you in contact with other exchangers if you require more information.
We have two married daughters, one grandson and four granddaughters. Our oldest daughter lives in QLD and the youngest nearby. We are lucky that we have a close relationship with both our daughters and our son in laws and enjoy heaps of fun times with them all. Our neighbors are friendly and have enjoyed meeting our previous exchange visitors inviting them for dinner and have even taken them on tour and out sailing. They will make you feel very much at home during your stay and will also be of assistance if you need any help. We can organise a neighbor to meet you on your arrival and settle you in for an enjoyable stay.
We are also very interested in offering our guest room for hospitality visits and would be more than happy to help with sight seeing arrangements and if you are interested we could show you some of our favorite places and our beautiful lake in our boat. As we both work Monday to Friday we would be at work during most of your stay so the home would be yours during the day. We would make sure that you had the degree of privacy that you want however you would be more than welcome to join us for evening meals during your stay. Greg cooks a pretty good barbeque and we would be more than happy to treat you to some Australian dishes that you may not have tried before.
Unfortunately as both of us have a company issued vehicle a vehicle is not included in our exchange. We do prefer to rent a vehicle as we do not want the worry if mechanical problems or an accident occurs. We feel it would be less complicated to deal with these types of incidents with a rental car.

We both enjoy good music, good food, good wine and of course travelling the world. We have been fortunate to have traveled extensively but it is a big world and we still have a lot more of it to see.
We thoroughly enjoyed having Greg & Cherryl as our guests in 2011. They are well- traveled, respectful, helpful and interesting people! They treated our home as if it were their own and we thoroughly enjoyed their company during their Quebec holiday. We look forward to visiting them in the not to distant future! Jan & Yves
During October 2011 we were fortunate to have a 4 night hospitality visit with Jan and Yves during our 7 week trip to the US and Canada. Jan and Yves were perfect hosts and nothing was a trouble to them. They went out of their way to make sure our visit was a memorable one and certainly made our visit to Quebec City a highlight of our trip. They are very special people. Their home was truly delightful with guest rooms downstairs. The room was tastefully decorated, very clean and self contained so was very private. It had everything you could possibly need. We hope to see them in Australia one day so that we can reciprocate their kindness.
We stayed in Cherryl and Greg's beautiful lakeside home for two weeks in March 2008, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The house is large, stylish, very well equipped and absolutely immaculate - and the waterfront setting is just stunning. We had a great time there. Cherryl and Greg's neighbours were very friendly and helpful, and really made us feel part of the community. We enjoyed exploring the lake and the surrounding areas. Locally we found both Toronto and Warners Bay great for restaurants and shopping. Further afield, we enjoyed visiting the beaches around Port Stephens, the city of Newcastle (which is very interesting) and the Hunter Valley vineyards. There's lots to do in the area. In summary, this was a great home exchange and we can't recommend it too highly.
In March 08 we were fortunate to have enjoyed a home exchange in Margaret and Tony's apartment in La Herradura. Their home is lovely, tastefully decorated, has everything you need and is very neat and clean. We immediately felt comfortable and settled in straight away for our 10 night stay. The balcony is a great spot to have breakfast or just relax and enjoy the spectacular view. The courtyard is also a pleasant place to sit in the sun if it is windy on the balcony. It is only a 5 minute drive to the beach, supermarkets, restaurants and the centre of La Herradura or a 20 minute walk. The marina below the apartment is a great place to go for lunch. We enjoyed many day trips during our stay and still had time for a couple of days spent just in La Herradura going out for lunch and relaxing on the balcony reading. We found both the home and area met more than our expectations and we would recommend both to anyone interested in this area of Spain.
In February 08 we were lucky to have a home exchange in Cherryl and Greg's nice home in Toronto,Lake Macquairy in New South Wales, Australia. The home is first line to the Lake with a private jetty, where you can swim. fish or feed the pelicans. We were also allowed to take the Sodiac for driving to the sand banks or the harbour of Toronto for having a nice dinner in the Yacht club. Toronto is a nice little town, where you can buy all things you need. The house is very lovely, neat and clean, with aesthetic furnishment, with lakeview from livingroom, kitchen and master bed room. We were very sad, when we had to leave this nice place. Cherryl and Greg invited us for a trip in their yacht, this we enjoyed very much. They also made a sight seeing tour with us arround the lake and Newcastle. The neighborhod is very polite, we were invited for diner and had a good time with them. Cherryl and Greg are the perfect exchange partners. They left our home in Spain extremely clean.
In March 08 we were fortunate to have enjoyed a home exchange in Heinz and Inge's home in Calpe. Their home is really lovely and is very neat and clean. We immediately felt comfortable and settled in straight away for our 9 night stay. It was not warm enough for swimming but we enjoyed relaxing in the sun in the pool area after a day sight seeing. The home has everything you need. It is only a 5 minute drive to the beach, supermarkets, restaurants and the centre of Calpe. We enjoyed many day trips during our stay and still had time for a couple of days spent just in Calpe going out for lunch. We found both the home and area met more than our expectations and we would recommend both to anyone interested in this area of Spain.
We firstly had Jean Philippe, Marion and Jeanne visit us for a weekend whilst Jean Philippe was studying in Sydney. We then enjoyed meeting them again when we visited them during our trip to France in September 09. Their home is beautifully decorated, homely and clean and on our arrival we instantly felt welcome. The hospitality extended to us made us feel more than welcome and with out doubt Jean Philippe is the best cook in France. Him and Marion made sure we experienced tastes of France that without their help we would not have been fortunate to have. Jeanne is an absolute delight, is a very well mannered little girl and a pleasure to have around. The area around Brive is one of the most beautiful areas of France with lovely villages and gorgeous countryside. It is an area that you could spend many weeks exploring. Our visit and day trips in the area was certainly a highlight of our trip to France. We hopefully will see Jean Philippe, Marion and Jeanne again in the future. Should you require further information you may contact us through our home exchange sight number 66429.
In September/October we had the opportunity to do a home exchange with Greg and Cherryl. It was our first experience and they were very helpful in guiding us with the process. They made the arrangements for the rental car and to have someone to pick us up at the train station. We talked via Skype many times during the months prior to the exchange and we got to know them quite well Although we did not get the chance to meet them in person we feel like we have been friends for ever. They have a beautiful home on beautiful Lake Macquarie, as soon as we walked in we were amazed with the view and we did not want to leave. Their beautiful home was very clean, well decorated and very comfortable with all the ammenities. We had our coffee every morning on the jetty, it was like a dream. They also have wonderful neighbours and friends who took great care of us, they brought us on trips, sailing, out for dinner etc. Cherryl and Greg stayed in our town house in Saint John NB during that same time. When we returned our house was in perfect condition. They are lovely people and we hope to have a chance to meet in person one day. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. We wish you well.
During our 7 week trip to the US and Canada in Sept/Oct 2011 we were fortunate that we organised an exchange with Edith & Yves. Whilst they were in our home we spent time in their lovely townhouse. The townhouse is very clean, well decorated and more than comfortable. We instantly felt at home on our arrival. Saint John is a good base for exploring and going on day trips and their home was a perfect place to return to after a day of sight seeing. We spoke to Edith and Yves on skype many times before we exchanged and were able to offer each other advice on planning our trips and get to know each other. On our return our home was in perfect condition. Our one regret is that we did not get to meet Edith and Yves in person as even though we have never met we feel that through skype we know them well. We know we will continue to keep in touch and hopefully one day our paths may cross. We wish them well for the future.
Cherryl and Greg were the perfect home exchange hosts! Their home is modern, beautifully furnished & decorated and immaculate! They are very experienced travellers- and we loved swapping stories and learning more about their global adventures. Their home is set on the absolute waterfront at Coal Point. We enjoyed wonderful sunsets every evening , and long lazy days on the deck . We were there for New Years Eve - and you could even see the local fireworks from their deck! This was our 1st homeswap- and it was wonderful to have Cherryl and Greg guide us through the whole process, and give us tips for successful home exchanges in the future. We travelled with our 2 boys- and they had toys , kids life jackets, a boat , a kayak and fishing gear ready when we arrived. Our son caught a large bream - which we pan fried for dinner- delicious! We also met their lovely neighbours- Barney, Jill and Annette. They were very welcoming and helpful. Barney and Jill even took our whole family out for a sail on their boat twice during our stay ( we saw a dolphin in the lake) - and we shared a wonderful dinner together on New Years Day. Cherryl and Greg were generous, hospitable and wonderful hosts. We would recommend this home exchange to anyone - especially those who enjoy spending time by the water in a beautiful , modern lakeside home- and befriending an amazing globetrotting couple! They stayed in our terrace house in Paddington, and left our property in an immaculate condition. Greg is an electrician , and he spotted and fixed a broken light switch for us while he was there ( thanks so much again Greg!) . I would highly recommend this home exchange- 5 STARS *****
