If you want to live the American dream.......... and enjoy ...

If you want to live the American dream.......... and enjoy all that New York has to offer but return to the peace and quiet of a beautiful home, with easy access to the sea, Hamptons and the rest of what Long Island has to offer this is a great base. The trains run regularly (and through most of the night) with only 30 mins directly into Penn Station - mid-town New York. Michael and Fran's home have so much to offer for a great holiday.

What we said about Siobhan's house:

Our stay at Siobhan's house was wonderful! Her home is in an excellent location, in a delightful neighborhood about a 15 minute stroll into Grafton Street and Trinity College. The bus and the DART are within a few short blocks of her house. There are excellent food shops and restaurants also within a few short blocks. Her home is beautifully decorated - I felt like we were in an enchanted cottage... and also extremely comfortable. Siobhan's neighbors and family were wonderfully welcoming. I highly recommend Siobhan's home for an exchange. We had a wonderful time staying there.

New York is an amazing city with so much to do and see. Our days were 'Full On' as we zoomed around to try and fit in all the sights of this magnificent city. New York was friendly, fun, exciting and very safe. We were lucky to arrange a house swap with Michael and Frances Christ in Lynbrook , Long Island which is only 35 minutes train ride from Penn Station. We flew in to JFK which is only a 20-minute cab ride to the Christ’s home in Lynbrook. We met up with Michael and Frances when we arrived and they welcomed us to their home with a traditional American Barbecue, which was fantastic; they gave us great advice and guides for the city and even introduced us to some of their neighbours . They could not have been more welcoming. Being out in Lynbrook enabled us to chill in an oasis of calm in their beautiful house, relaxing on the deck at night over a cold beer taking in what we had seen during the day and planning our next days activities or plan a day at the beach in Long Island. The house itself was great, a real home from home, and only five minutes walk from restaurants, train station, shops etc. Car hire was easy (Avis was a few blocks walk from the house) and enabled us to some exploring in the amazing Hamptons with its picturesque towns and great beaches, (the train goes there too but it is good to mix it up). We also drove over to New Jersey where our son discovered Jersey Gardens, Retail Heaven and a must on the visit list We purchased a New York Pass, which enabled us to visit all the top attractions around the city, and if you want to see the sights, I would advise anyone to look at doing this and do it for at least five days. I would recommend Lynbrook to anyone visiting New York, it has the best of all worlds, easy access to the fast moving city and the peaceful tranquility of calmness of a lovely small friendly town with easy access to the beach. Check out the breakfast at the Lynbrook Diner, a genuine friendly American Diner, the perfect place to start your day.

Myself and my partner Rua stayed in Fran & Michael's beautiful home for two weeks in August. This was our first ever home exchange and we weren't sure what to expect! Fran was an absolute pleasure to deal with from the initial enquiry right through to the end of the exchange and beyond! The house is fantastic and has tons of room, it was very clean and we felt at ease there immediately. Fran was kind enough to contact us prior to our arrival to ask what basics we would like for breakfast etc. Fran also went above and beyond leaving beach essentials out for us (sun cream, towels, water, beach bags etc). Fran and Michael also offered fantastic advice and recommendations for our stay. We were lucky enough to meet Michael & Fran in person as they kindly invited us to a bbq in their home upon their return from our home in Ireland, they could not be more welcoming! The house is about a 7min walk to the train station which will take you to Long Beach in 20mins or to Manhattan in 35mins. The neighbourhood itself is lovely, peaceful and has all essentials close by, shops, restaurants, car rental etc. The Hamptons and Montauk are also easily accessible from this location by train or by car. This exchange offers the best of both worlds, easy access to the bustle of Manhattan and a relaxing home to come back to, with a lovely deck area to sit and enjoy a cold beer and the fantastic bbq grill. We couldn't recommend Fran, Michael and their lovely home enough!

What we said about Lauren 's house:

You couldn't find a more perfect place to stay than in Lauren and Rua's apartment. Sunny, comfortable, immaculate, and quiet, the apartment is on the ground floor with a beautiful view. The location is excellent - you can walk to St. Stephen's Green in less than 30 minutes. Or - a 10 minute walk down the main street of Ranelagh - one of the nicest neighborhoods in Dublin - takes you to the Luas. Three short stops later and you're at St Stephen's Green, at the top of Grafton Street. Ranelagh is filled with excellent restaurants and pubs, as well as books stores, galleries and boutiques. It was a pleasure to meet Lauren and Rua - they were wonderful exchange partners. They arranged for a (wonderful!) friend to meet us when we arrived at midnight, and gave us a tour of the apartment and how to use the appliances. They left excellent instructions, maps and suggestions for sight seeing and eating out, and left us food, coffee, tea, etc. They took excellent care of our home - leaving it even cleaner than they found it, I'm sure! The apartment ticks all the boxes - for location, comfort, cleanliness, wonderful exchange partners, it's perfect!
