...omnes viae Romam ducunt...
We love to travel and rapidly became enthusiastic home exchangers (see REVIEWS of just part of our many swaps!!!). That's why we feel: "Always ready to take off !!!".
My name is Andrea (Andrew/Andres), 49 years old neurosurgeon in a large city hospital; my travel buddy is my son Massimo 11 years old kid, student at the Spanish School of Rome.
We enjoy to get in contact with new cultures, taste local food, listen and learn different languages, and do our best to leave as locals do.
We like to watch good movies together and witness sport and cultural events; during our trips we stroll around maily walking, by bike and using public transportation (buses, trains, underground etc.) an excellent way to interact with locals. We look forward to meet people and make new friends !

We love cinema, especially hispanic, go to sport events (where a ball is rolling...there we are !!!), discover local cuisine, meet people and when we travel, live "the local way" !
We arranged a short exchange during this summer and the experience was excellent:the house of Emilie,Gregoire and kids is conveniently located in the neighbourhood of Eixample.Old typical late '800 building, high ceilings, spacious, confortable. The family is very friendly, nice to talk with, interesting, open minded and fully reliable. We enjoyed the exchange and highly recommend it.
Copenhagen is the perfect place to take a break, enjoying the "musts",the canals, the new quarters boasting a modern and amazing architecture,a lot of urben biking and, during the right season, its shores and clear sea waters. However all the current guidebooks should reserve a page for the house of Mark and Sidse, strategically located in the central and lively neighbourhood of Vesterbro:it offers a vintage flavour (from late '800)that we loved,in a high level of the building, spacious, luminous and tastly decorated, offers all comforts and first class equipment,a large internal courtyard with green lawn perfect for kids to play safly and for of adults to relax .We loved it.And we mostly appreciated their kindness and help:it is a friendly, quite, fully reliable family.Excellent experience, higly recommended ! Thanks
We have made five exchanges before Rome and this is one of the best of them. The house is well located, very nice neighbourhood, comfortable, bright and spacious rooms, Andrea, his owner, is very friendly, a very "nice to be with" person and his son very polite and quite. .Me and my son Alejandro had a great time and enjoyed their warmest and most sincere hospitality.Higly recommended..
In my first experience as home-exchanger I picked up the "perfect deal": the house in Sevilla is exceptionally well located, confortable, cute, functional;the exchanger,Isabel,a friendly, open minded, thoughtful, helpful, "nice to be with" person. And so are her son Alejandro and her family. We had a great time and enjoyed their warmest and most sincere hospitality.Higly recommended,100% reliable.
We had a wonderful time in Roma. Andrea is very hospitable, friendly, warm hearted and his apartment well located and beautiful. It is central enough (we walked everywhere) and in a nice quiet neighbourhood. If Andrea permits we will definately return and his family is welcome at our place anytime! Thank you so much Andrea for all the help and referals!
It was a pleasure to be in Rome. Andrea's apartment is very centrally, confortable and quiet. I've visited everything that I wanted and tasted a lot of specialyties like pizza, ice cream and cappuccino! Andrea has been very kind to give me a lot of documentations and advices, it was a wonderfull exchange!
Very confortable apartment in historic house walking distance to Dieppe's inner harbour. We really felt at home. Normandy has it all: nature, sea, excellent cuisine and a lot of history. Samia provided plenty of infos, much help, advice and has been fully reliable and extremely kind: It has been a real pleasure to exchange with her. FIVE STARS "superior"
The house of Andrea & Max is truly comfortable, spacious and well organized. The location is great and in a peaceful setting. The apartment is located on one of the hills overlooking the city and it offers a particular view as well as being one of the most prestigious areas of Rome. Well served by public transport, both by day and by night, in a few minutes you can reach the most interesting places of the city. The hospitality of Andrea was certainly unsurpassed; he informed us about all the happenings at the time that Rome had to offer as well as other small and valuable suggestions. It was a perfect holiday for us and certainly for all those who try this experience. Viva Andrea & Massimo
A very cosy and comfortable flat very close to everything you need. Andrea welcomed us as friends and took us to a very unusual place to visit . We'll never forget the wonderful and genuine antic tunnel and this experience was as unique as fantastic for both parents and kids . Andrea is indeed a very nice , generous and friendly person and his son Massimo , a real polyglot was very curious to communicate with us and our two boys. We highly recommend the place .
Andrea's house is neatly situated in a quiet and safe residential neighbourhood of Rome with nearby parks. The apartment it is spacious enough to accomodate a longer term stay without any problem: it is confortable and sufficiently equipped; nearby shops and restaurants widely satisfy one's every-day necessities, while the public transportation system offers easy and fast access to the various interesting parts of the city; the Vatican, Trastevere among others are within reach by a pleasant walk downhill and the close by park know as the "Gianicolo" offers stunning views of the whole old city. Andrea made us feel welcome and gave us a quick tour so that we could smoothly settle down, making us even more enjoyable our stay in Rome from start to finish. Nice exchange, recommended !
The house of Tanja & Bertil is located in Helmond, a town in the vicinity of Eindhoven. The town is quiet and here you will find all services without being caught in the chaos of a large city (among them expensive parking, a common problem in Holland). We found Helmond a perfect base to explore both Holland and northern Belgium, the distances being very reasonable, many interesting destinations (for example Maastricht, Nijmegen, Arnhem, Utrecht and Amsterdam; Liege, Antwerp, Brugge, Bastogne) within a 2-3 hours drive. The house is spectacular, very luminous, spacious, confortable with welll kept garden and fully equipped. A well supplied supermarket is about 200 mts away. Thanks to a 1 day overlap in our periods we had the chance to meet Bertil & Tanja, nice and open people. They have been very helpful and fully reliable. If you are looking for an exchange in southern Holland this is an excellent option, believe me!
We absolutely loved our exchange with Andrea and Massimo. It could not have been a better experience. The family itself is so warm, kind and thoughtful that we felt right at home at their place from the first minute. Andrea's parents made sure that we arrived successfully at the apartment and even welcomed us into their home for a wonderful home-cooked dinner. They are the most wonderful people! Andrea's apartment itself is cheerful and has a genuine warmth to it - brightly colored photos, travel books and artwork adorn the walls. There were plenty of beds for our family (it could easily sleep up to 8 or 10 people I think) and had everything you could need - nice stove, dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, washer and more. They kindly allowed our children to play with Massimo's toys, which was greatly appreciated! The neighborhood of Trastevere is beautiful and peaceful, far removed from the hustle and bustle of Rome itself which was really nice after a long day of walking through busy streets. The #75 bus stops right in front of their building and will take you all the way to the Colosseum and ancient ruins, but it is also easy to transfer on Viale de Trastevere and catch a different bus into the heart of town. We found great local restaurants and more than one tasty gelateria on Viale de Trastevere! There are also close local markets to the home, in easy walking distance. Perhaps most importantly, Andrea was always a very kind and detailed correspondent - he helped with even the smallest matters and went out of his way to make sure that we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves throughout the entire vacation - even while he was at our home in San Diego. Andrea and Massimo left our house in outstanding condition! We were so happy with this exchange and have told all of our friends that not only was our exchange in Rome a great success but we feel we have made great new friends in the process. We hope to meet Andrea and Massimo in person one day, and send our warmest regards to their lovely extended family.
We have been so lucky to meet Andrea & Hank's family and pick them among other contacts we have had in San Diego. Chapter one: communication with her has been excellent from the very beginning: she seemed immediately extremely informative, reliable and enthusiastic; she provided a considerable amount of information and made it easier to plan our stay. She was also very open minded and flexible, very quick in replying in the best way possible to our queries and providing fully satisfactory feebacks.I regret I have'nt been able, being a simultaneous exchange, to meet them all especially because my parents told me that they are especially nice, polite, interesting people to be with and was a true joy to have them home for dinner. Chapter two, their house: breathtaking!!!The neighbourhood (Point Loma) is the most quite, charming, wonderful urban area you could dream of. Elevated position with a view on the ocean, nice villas, lush tropical vegetation all over. The house is large, confortable, fully equipped (think to a device: they have it !) and tastefully decorated. Spacious garden in the backyard with lawn (and soccer goal!) with available gas bbq.The first floor balcony is a stage on the ocean and you wont want to miss a single evening of your stay the miracle of sun diving into the pacific. Chapter three: San Diego is the most pleasant city to stay. The weather is wonderful, beaches, parks, museums, cultural events every day. Among others, we witnessed the renowned "Comic-con" at the convention center and enjoyed an evening concert of SD Symphony at South Marina Park, music by the bay. We keep wonderful memories of our stay and are grateful to Andrea, Hank and family for offering us this special experience.
We exchanged with Andrea in May 2014 when I traveled to Rome with my mother. The entire exchange experience was very smooth and positive. Andrea was very prompt and clear in his email communication. We were warmly welcomed at the airport on our arrival in Rome by Andrea. He was very supportive throughout our stay. The residential neighborhood of Monte Verde was very pleasant with greenery and access to public parks. All amenities including public transportation is at the doorstep. I particularly enjoyed the walk to the Vatican, the view of Rome from Gianicolo and Villa Farnese. The apartment itself was comfortable, spacious and well equipped. I had the pleasure of meeting with Andrea and Massimo when they were here in Berkeley. I found them both very easy going, interested and interesting. They were perfect exchange partners and left my house in impeccable condition. Andrea is a very warm and friendly person. I am happy to have met him and I look forward to keeping in touch. If you are looking for an exchange in Rome, look no further!
Visiting the bay area not necessarily implies staying in San Francisco: we picked instead the more quite, though charming town of Berkeley (location of the prestigious branch of the University of California) just across the bay. In doing so we have been definitely lucky to run into Anitha: she is the most reliable, interesting, open minded and pleasant person to be with. She has been very helpful during trip planning and during our stay warmly welcoming. It's a joy to have know her and we look forward to keep in touch in the future! Her house is cozy, charming and really tastefully decorated. At the same time the house is really confortable, practical and well equipped. A special note for the garden surrounding the house, well kept, relaxing, shady and colorful. Berkeley is well and easily connected to downtown SF by the fast and frequent BART trains with stops within an easy reach from the house;however there is a lot to see and do in town as well and the services are all walking distance. An higly recommended choice indeed a wonderful experience and top exchange!!!
Andrea was an amazing host. So warm and generous, interested and interesting. His friendship will endure. The apartment was very well appointed and ideally located - suburban, in a pleasant relaxing area, but easy access by bus to the main parts of the city. That we had a wonderful time in Rome was in no small part because of Andrea's hospitality. Thank you Andrea!!
This was our very first home exchange and we LOVED it! We were simply amazed at Andreas hospitality and generosity. He was very helpful leading up to our exchange with some good suggestions, he helped us with transport from the airport and train stations which was incredible generous. It was great being shown around the neighbourhood so we could see where to catch the bus, go to the supermarket and recommendations on places to eat. The apartment is very modern and comfortable in a fantastic location close to the city, we walked almost everywhere it was fabulous. The neighbourhood is buzzing and has everything you need very close. Thank you Andrea for such a brilliant stay and we look forward to seeing you in NZ!
It was a pleasure to exchange with Andrea and Massimo! Communication was very smooth, and Andrea was very accommodating to my uncertain plans. Their modern style apartment is lovely, well equipped, and in a great location. It is also very convenient with children, as was our case. Andrea provided us with lots of useful information. In turn, they were very responsible guests at our home. It was a pleasure to exchange, hope to do so again in the future!
Sylvia has been very friendly and thoughtful since our very first contact and communication excellent and fruitful during every step of the exchange. She lives in a convenient location close to Lucca within the easy reach of a short bike stroll. The neighbourhood is peaceful and the atmosphere very warm. The house, decorated in country style, has a lot of character with large spaces in the ground floor, garden, stairs, confortable bedrooms and large bathroom on the first floor. Everything worked out smoothly and we enjoyed a wonderful long we.It was a real pleasure to exchange with her: thanks very much Sylvia & family !!!
Andrea is an amazing host. He was super organized and planned the whole exchange perfectly. The home is very nice in a lovely quarter of Rome. Very authentic and un-touristy, even though right behind Trastevere and the Gianicolo hill. Andrea provided us with great tipps for restaurants and sights. I was enchanted by Villa Scialla close by. We discoverd the amazing Restaurant Litro right at the bus station and the out-door market across the street is delightful. Thank you, Andrea!
Our exchange with Bettina Guido and their kids was a full success: first of all we once again we met very interesting, open minded and easy going people. Besides the interest and love for Rome they master (among others) italian language in a stunning way. Last but not the least, their house in Lausanne is a charming family home with an excellent location. The street is very central quite and elegant, close to everything one needs. The building is a recently renovated XIX century one and the apartment tastefully decorated though practical and fully equipped. Very luminous, with a pleasant view on a wide peaceful internal garden / patio. Lausanne is a nice city lots to do and to see; close to everything, other cities by train, the mountains, France...the lake is beautiful and perfect to take a boat tour or to swim and sunbathing on one of the many well organized beaches. Fully recommended.
