We love our island!

Conde Nast just ranked Anna Maria Island in the top 30 islands world wide. They placed it #26, but for us it is #1. No other island in Florida made the list! We love the beaches with the soft, white "sugar" sand, the dolphins swimming in the gulf which is so clear most days that you can see the bottom, the Old Florida feeling with no high rise buildings--there is a 3 story height limit here--and the mom and pop stores--there are no chain stores in Anna Maria. With wonderful waterfront restaurants just blocks away and growers and fish markets nearby, the food is also excellent. Our favorite restaurant is the Sandbar which has delicous fresh fish, locally grown produce and an idyllic setting, right on the beach. AMI is a laid back spot, perfect for doing your own thing, whether it's fishing, boating, swimming in our warm salt water pool, curling up with a book or taking a long walk on the beach. It is the ideal setting for having a fabulous vacation and making memories. We look forward to sharing our house with visitors so you can enjoy it too.

Everything was great about our exchange in Anna Maria in August 2012. The cottage was perfect for our family of four. The kids wanted to spend the whole day in the saltwater pool or at the beach. We also had a great time kayaking in the canals and fishing on the piers. There are no hotels around so the beach was never even close to being crowded. We had all the space we wanted whenever we went. It is a 3 to 4 minutes walk from the cottage or if you are 3 years old, a 3 or 4 minutes ride in the very useful beachbuggy while daddy is pulling. It was a pleasure meeting Jim and Margaret and doing the exchange with them. They take great care of their cottage and did the same with our house. We would go back in a hearthbeat. We hope to do more exchanges in the future with people like the Hudgings.

We really spent an amazing vacation at Simplicity cottage at the end of December 2014 and our stay far exceeded our expectations. This is truly one of the best exchanges we had in many years! The house is well-equipped, nicely furnished and well-maintained. It is located on a quiet street but a few minutes from spectacular white sandy beaches. We spent a lot of time in their gorgeous back yard swimming in the heated pool, fishing and kayaking in the canal directly from their dock! Our grandson Renaud (9 years old) was very excited to see the numerous tropical birds that visited us (Sherlock and Watson, we will miss you...). Margaret and Jim were extremely helpful to provide us all necessary information about the house or the island and made our stay so much easier. We loved the brightness and the serenity of their house. Thank you Margaret and Jim for sharing this piece of paradise with us! Louise and Robert Chartrand, Magog, Québec, Canada

What we said about Louise and Robert's house:

The lake house in Magog is absolutely perfect. Sitting outside under the awning each day, we watched the ducks, kayaks and sailboats go by. It is so relaxing there--our family loved it! The owners are avid gardeners, and the house has manicured lawns and flower beds overflowing with blooms. The lot is large, and house is very quiet. We visited the swimming beach, took out the kayaks and rode bikes too. At times, we went to see some local sights--a visit to a nearby abbey and a ride on a large cruise boat on the lake were especially memorable. We also found a good French bakery in town and enjoyed Lac Brome duck in a restaurant in Knowlton, the specialty of that nearby town. Inside the Magog house is meticulously clean and beautifully furnished. Although my husband is allergic to cats, he had no problem at the house which the owner says is typical of allergy sufferers. The decorating is elaborate --more typical of an upscale city home than a vacation home. We especially liked the art work which looks like Quebec. Best of all, our hosts Louise and Bob were so helpful both before and during the exchange. When we arrived, they welcomed us to their home. Louise answered all of my questions --in many emails-- and had the house well prepared for our visit, complete with wine and flowers on the table. Bob returned one day to explain the boats to us and show our grandson how to fish. All in all, it was a delightful experience. Margaret and Jim Hudgings
