Beautiful updated traditional farmhouse with extensive, matured and well-tended gardens in unspoit countryside in the hills around Urbino. There are olive and fruit trees - abundant cherries in June, plums in July, olives in October/November. The loggia provides shade for eating out, though there is furniture in various places in the garden for sitting, reading, relaxing and eating outside.

Urbino is a UNESCO world heritage site, one of the jewels of the Italian renaissance. It is the centre of the unique dukedom of the Montefelto which includes nearby hilltowns bordering Umbria and Tuscany. It is wonderful sightseeing, walking and cycling country - unhurried and unspoilt. The walled hill-town of Urbino is one of Italy's splendours; its Ducal palace contains the art gallery of The Marche. It is the birthplace of Raphael the painter whose house is also a national monument to be visited. it is a university town and well supplied with bookshops, bars, restaurants, and good quality shops. There are two supermarkets outside the city walls with easy parking. A Saturday market inside the walls provides fresh vegetables, fruit,fresh and fried mixed fish, cheeses, cooked meats as well as clothes, shoes and household goods of all kinds. There are markets on other days in nearby towns such as Urbania, Fermignano and Fossombrone. And we are 20-25 miles from the coastal resorts of Pesaro, Fano and slightly further Ancona and the Riviera del Conero. See www.le-marche.com

We would like to exchange in the months May-June for Virginia and June-October 2013 for New England. The period would be two to three weeks.

We love the coast of New England, especially Maine.
We are only interested in exchanging in the United States: New England, Washington DC or NY City

The house has been in the family for nearly 50 years. We have lived here full-time for the past 20 years, working from home. We are widely travelled, like meeting people, walking, music and bookshops. We would like to exchange with another couple with similar interests who would look after our home in the way we would look after theirs.
The house is not suitable for children. We are non-smokers.
