Our Home
An elegant stone built Maison de Maître or "Family Villa", situated on the edge of a plateau with spectacular views over the valley of the river Séoune and the rolling countryside of S.W France.
There are four double bedrooms. Two on the ground floor and two upstairs,to sleep 8/10 guests.
12th century origins,of which some of the old fortifications remain.
This spacious property is set in five acres (one and a half hectares) of private and secluded grounds. A broad terrace surrounds the house on three sides, with outdoor furniture and barbecues providing a pleasant area for alfresco dining. Roman steps lead down into the 10 x 5 metre pool. The garden is landscaped with shrubs, roses, trees, and a natural spring (supplies water to the house) A large lawn provides plenty of space for games, including golf shots. Plum and other trees offer a shady spot for relaxing with a cool cool glass of wine !

About the Area
Just five kilometres away is the picturesque 14th century village of Montaigu-de-Quercy,with its narrow winding villiage streets, market square,old white stone buildings,medieval church and lavoirs (wash houses). Montaigu is on the medieval pilgrimage route of Santiago de Compostella.The town has tennis courts and a colourful lake area for swimming and boating
. There are several other Bastide,or fortified towns nearby,many dating from the time of the Hundred Years War. From the same period comes the fine medieval cathedral and truly amazing 11th century cloisters at Moissac on the Tarn river.
There is an outdoor market at one of the regional towns every day during the summer,which give an excellent opportunity to sample local produce.The region is famous for its fruits (melons, chasselas grapes and prunes) as well as for foie gras, excellent cheeses, pastries, honey, and of course, wine. Throughout the year,but especially in summer, the local villages are enlivened by concerts, plays, festivals and fêtes. The numerous local restaurants,including those that offer fine dining, are nothing but excellent.

A couple in their 60,s retired,living in SW France.
Prior to retirement Eric was a chief exec in corporate life,most recently in Asia. We have travelled extensively and lived in Asia, Africa and Europe. Our interests are varied.We are experienced sailors having sailed the South China seas for many years.We also enjoy good company,the occasional trip to the Cinema,Theatre,Opera and Ballet. Our gardens and amazing country walks in France keeps us active. We have family in Mosman Sydney Australia and LA USA and therefore seek exchanges in 2013/2014 and beyond.
