Our Home
Deodar Road is unique in that has its own river frontage, unlike most 'riverside' homes which have either a towpath or road between the property and The Thames. The house is arranged over four floors, with two en-suite kingsize bedrooms, a further twin-bed room (which can convert to kingsize bed), a sofa bed and a further separate loo. The main living area is large, airy and opens onto a wooden deck with glorious views of the river. The first floor includes a large sitting room with plasma TV, DVD collection, enormous sofa, and further sofa looking out over the garden and river. There is also a utility room with washer/dryer and storage. The house is really well served by public transport; a six-minute walk over the bridge takes you to Putney Bridge tube, and equidistant (but with not such a pretty walk!) is East Putney tube station. Another six-minute walk away is Putney main line station, which takes you into Central London (Waterloo) in 16 minutes, or to Clapham Junction in 8 minutes - from where regular trains run to Gatwick Airport. The river taxi is a 10-minute walk across Wandsworth Park, which you practically fall into when turning left out of the house. There is off-street parking for two cars, and the extensive shopping of Putney High Street is only a five minute walk away. We love to cook, and the kitchen is set up with just about every conceivable implement, pot, pan and cookbook (50 at last count).
Our Neighborhood
Putney is a desirable area of South-West London, with Wimbledon to the South, Battersea to the East, and the River Thames leading to Fulham across the river. It is 5 miles from the centre of London (if defined as Buckingham Palace) and takes between 20 and 45 minutes to reach pretty much anywhere in the capital. The heart of Putney is a busy high street surrounded by period homes and congenial riverside pubs and restaurants. Since the second half of the 19th century, Putney has been one of the most significant centres for rowing in the UK. The University Boat Race, first contested in 1829 in Henley-on-Thames, has had Putney as its starting point since 1845. Since 1856, it has been an annual event, beginning at the University Stone, just upstream from Putney Bridge - which you can view from our deck.

Our Dates
We tend not to travel during school holidays, so we are probably better suited to those traveling without children - but this is not necessarily exclusively so.

About Us
We are a couple in our mid-forties who live and work in London. We enjoy a great deal of sporting activities, and have both completed triathlons in the past year. We also have a ski apartment in the Chamonix Valley, which we rent to family and friends. We do not have children, although many stay on a regular basis - last weekend's gathering ranged from a niece aged 8 months to a father aged 80 years. We love our home, but we also love to explore new places. As both of us travel extensively for work, it is a pleasure to experience more personal surroundings than a global hotel chain.
