Our Home
An elegant two bedroom, two bathroom apartment one block from the beach, in Melbourne, the world's most liveable city. There is resort-style living here with 20 metre heated ozone filtrated pool, sauna, very well equipped gym, outdoor tennis court and 24 hour concierge service. Being on the third floor, we have an open aspect over the tennis court, decking and landscaped garden. This decked area (one flight down from our apartment in the lift) enables residents to easily walk down one flight of steps and across the road straight over to the beach.
The apartment is very quiet, cool in summer, and cosy in winter, with reverse-cycle heating and air-conditioning and has glimpses of Port Phillip Bay past the interesting views of the tennis games.
We have a study area off one side of the very spacious main bedroom with an ensuite bathroom with full bath on the other side. The study area has an Apple Mac computer, and internet connection.
We have just had a brand new kitchen installed which is open plan to the living and dining areas and the apartment is freshly painted and carpeted: we only moved in earlier this year.
The building is only ten years old and was an award winning design by one of Australia's most highly regarded architects. There are two lifts servicing the apartment and there is disabled access from the street, so is suitable for wheelchair users.
We have Miele washing machine and dryers in the laundry, a microwave, a Fisher and Paykel dishwasher drawer and an Ilve oven in the kitchen and outdoor dining table and chairs for summer meals. There is a large screen TV, a DVD player and two Bose IPod dock music systems, one in the lounge and one in the study.
We are just five or so kilmometres from the CBD, just two blocks from a couple of bus lines, twelve minutes walk in two different directions to a light rail or tram connection to the city, and beyond.
It's a couple of blocks to shops. cafes, restaurants, and a twenty minute walk to a lively market.
The household is smoke-free.

Our Neighborhood
We are just five or so kilmometres from the CBD, just two blocks from a couple of bus lines, twelve minutes walk in two different directions to a light rail or a tram connection to the city and beyond. It's a couple of blocks to shops, supermarkets, gourmet food shops, cafes, restaurants, and a twenty minute walk to a lively market.
We are a fifteen minute walk away from where the big cruise liners, like the QE2, berth when they visit Melbourne. Visitors touring from the boats cross the road to catch our light rail to the city and the casino. As you can see on our map, there are two piers projecting into the bay where the liners tie up. The closest one to us is where the ships berth. This is also where the "Spirit of Tasmania" ferry to Tasmania. (The cargo ships berth further up the Yarra River.)
There are several blocks of shops, cafes, and restaurants, just a couple of short blocks from our apartment, and a twenty minute walk to a lively market selling fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, clothing, shoes, kitchen and homewares, with a farmers' market held in a local park every month just about five minute's walk away.
Port Melbourne is an old area of Melbourne, first established in 1839 but substantially changed from its beginnings as an area for workers from the dock areas. Now higher rise buildings and new developments and houses are taking advantage of its wonderfully convenient proximity to the city and the beach.
Melbourne is a wonderful city of four million people, many of whom are passionate about sport. There are many events for sports lovers such as the Australian Tennis Open, the Grand Prix for formula one cars, the spring racing carnival with the Melbourne Cup, the Boxing Day Test, as well as cultural festivals and events like the Melbourne Festival, The Fringe Festival, the Comedy Festival, Fashion Week and the Tutankhamun Exhibition.
