SEEKING OFFERS FOR CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS 2013 and SUMMER 2014 (Sun or Skiing would be lovely:)

Open to weekend exchanges for Thanksgiving break within driving distance of Seattle.

Our 1922 Craftsman home (3500 sq ft) is situated on a quiet street in the friendly residential neighborhood of Madrona. Recently landscaped front yard and patio, lots of room for our guests: 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, sleeper sofa in finished basement room. Hardwood floors throughout, high ceilings, exposed woodwork. Living room has gas fireplace and large windows. Deck offers outside dining and BBQ. Cozy library/music room with Computer/ internet access/Wifi. Upstairs has a completely redone master bedroom with large jacuzzi tub and shower. Two kids rooms on same level with adjoining full bath. All appliances new. New 42"TV/DVD/Netflix/Wii. Lots of boy toys and books. There are guitars to play and espresso machine to make your own latte each morning. Easy drive or bus ride to downtown Seattle, walking distance to swimming beaches, 1.5 hours to best mountain hiking in the world.

Madrona is a quiet residential neighborhood with beautiful old homes on the crest of a hill with views of Lake Washington and the Cascades, and is within minutes of downtown Seattle by bus or car. "Downtown" Madrona is a few short blocks away with great cafes and shops (don't miss the cupcakes at Cafe Verite). Local library branch, park and playground. The bus to downtown Seattle is one block away and puts all of the famous waterfront and public market within easy reach.

There is water everywhere, from swimming beaches a short walk away on Lake Washington, to wooden boats on Lake Union in the middle of downtown, to the Puget Sound and all of the ferries, islands, views and beaches it has to offer. Within two hours are some of the world's most amazing hiking trails in the rugged Cascade Mountains. It is literally possible to hike above snow line in the morning and warm yourself on the beach in the afternoon. Then there are the San Juan Islands, Vancouver BC, the Olympic National Park with its temperate rainforest, and Washington's wild Pacific Coast. Standing imposingly over it all is Mount Rainier, just a 2 hour drive away.

Seattle also boasts it all--urban amenities surrounded by fantastic outdoor opportunities. This is a world-class arts community: modern art museum, waterfront sculpture garden, glass blowing galleries, opera, ballet, symphony, theater, jazz, blues, and rock. Seattle's restaurants are fabulous and are made even better by the embarrassment of culinary riches the Northwest has to offer: salmon, oysters, organic local produce, grass-fed beef, wine, Asian markets and cheese. Great local farmer's markets in the summer (one within walking distance). And don't forget about the coffee.

We respond to every email inquiry, usually within 24 hours. If you receive something from us, you can assume we are interested and not just shopping around. We prefer it if people are the same with us.
Our past exchangers have used our home as a base and traveled to Vancouver, BC, Victoria, BC, the San Juan Islands, the Olympic Peninsula and Mt. Rainier. We have a forest pass and camping and hiking gear for outdoor activities.Happy to provide references as well.
We prefer a car exchange if possible and can offer two cars if you need it: Subaru Forester or Honda Accord (each seats 5).

Please note: due to my call schedule at the hospital and kids school holidays, we typically plan exchanges 9-12 months in advance.

This is our primary residence so can only do simultaneous exchanges.

Open to short exchange within driving distance of Seattle 11/28-12/1 2013 (Thanksgiving)

Open: 2/16-2/22 (Midwinter Break 2014) and
4/12-4/20 (Spring Break 2014)

Our family-Paul (PhD) writer and full time dad, Claire (MD), and our two sons, Jack (10) and Henry (7). Have done 10 exchanges so far and met wonderful people. Paul speaks a little German, Claire a little Italian and the boys speak Lego fluently. We have a friendly indoor cat named Franz who would need care during our time away. Exchanging with other families with children is nice, but not necessary. Happy to take care of your pets and water your plants.

Prefer someplace that has a soul! We are tidy, but like character too.

We want to leave your home spotless and would be happy to pay to have it cleaned at the end of our stay. Our housecleaner will come at the end of your stay at no cost to you.

Sometimes our well-behaved in-laws visit for part of an exchange. We have extra room in our home with sofabed if you have visitors as well.
