An outstanding 5 bedroom period home, set in one of the most attractive locations in London with an exquisite interior and enhanced by a beautifully landscaped, mature garden. The 3,000sq ft (275sq m) property faces the woods of Wandsworth Common and is set back from the road in a quiet cul-de-sac of similar prestigious residences. Just over 4 miles from The Houses of Parliament, it is very centrally situated, whilst easily maintaining an illusion of countryside village life.
The 100ft south west facing garden is very large by London standards and offers rare privacy by not being overlooked from other properties. There are sun loungers, a terrace with outdoor dining table that comfortably seats eight, numerous garden toys and a double hammock which can be strung between the mulberry trees for idle summer afternoons. There is a gas fired Weber barbeque and a gas powered patio heater for when the sun goes down.
The ground floor provides a large, fully equipped luxury kitchen/kitchen dining area looking down the garden. Appliances include a double oven, a combination oven, gas hob, dishwasher, American fridge freezer, chest freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and Gaggia espresso/cappuccino machine. The kitchen dining area has a table and chairs for eight, breakfast bar with four stools and an LCD TV. There is a formal drawing room with French antiques and original works of art and a dining room with antique dining table and chairs for 12 guests. The sitting room also faces the garden and includes a home cinema system comprising a 48β high definition LCD screen, with satellite TV, PS3, CD and DVD players and built in cinema sound. The hallway is forever guarded by our chocolate Labrador, Emma, who now permanently resides in bronze under the console table. Climbing the stairs brings you face to face with an antique (pre WW1) wooden airplane propeller; so early that it does not bear a drawing number or engine data usually stamped on the hub.
Upstairs is a most attractive principle bedroom with super king size Tempur bed and a large en-suite bathroom with bath and power shower. This floor also includes a study which will be kept private to visitors and a guest bedroom with queen size bed and its own bathroom en-suite. The top floor of the house includes two more guest bedrooms, each with double beds and a third bedroom currently housing a water resistance rowing machine. (We have two inflatable single beds and one double, and the rowing machine stacks vertically if you need to sleep more than eight). On this floor there is also another bathroom with bath and power shower. The principal bedroom and two of the guest bedrooms have their own LCD TVs. Broadband wireless internet access is available throughout the house. Gardeners visit on a weekly basis and a cleaner can be arranged on request.
I own this property.

The Neighborhood
Wandsworth Common is a beautiful green space at the heart of a friendly local community. On the common you'll find features such as the lake with an abundance of wildlife, children's play area plus plenty of open space for picnics, Frisbee, etc. There are dedicated tennis facilities which can be booked in advance. Around the borders of the common is an exercise trail (aka as "the trim trail") which includes pieces of equipment that allow you to do pull ups, sit ups, leaps and many other exercises to your heart's content. Some of the equipment has no obvious use (in our opinion) so a creative mind would be useful if you want to make full use of the trail. For the more ecologically minded, the common is also criss-crossed by part of London's network of cycle paths.
One of the highlights of Wandsworth Common is visiting Bellevue Road, a row of shops opposite the green space. On Bellevue Road you'll find the famous Michelin starred restaurant, Chez Bruce (high quality French cuisine with a twist accompanied by an exquisite selection of wines), and a clutch of bars and cafes in which to while away the time over a coffee and croissant, or something stronger. There is also a general store, a wine merchant, a florist and a pharmacy.
You can access all the other parts of London by a variety of means. The fastest ways to travel are the mainline trains from Wandsworth Common Station which is just a short stroll across the common. This provides direct trains to Victoria station which run every 6-7 minutes and take just 12 minutes to arrive. From Victoria the tube network puts all of London at your feet. Piccadilly Circus and The West End are just 30 minutes travel time from Wandsworth Common. The nearest London Underground stations are Tooting Bec Station and Balham Stations which are on the Northern Line. Buses are another option, with the 319 bus passing very nearby and offering an upper deck view through Chelsea to The Kings Road and Sloane Square, and the 219 taking you directly to Wimbledon and the tennis (if youβre visiting in July). There is free on-street parking outside the house, should you wish to hire a car.

The Dates
The Destination
We would like to go somewhere sunny, near a beach, and within easy distance of restaurants and local nightlife. If possible, we would like to be within a half hour drive of golf courses.
The People
We are Elise and Paul(50) and we have 2 sons, Matt(19) and Ross(17). Matt is at University studying for a BA in film, and Ross still has another year of higher education to complete. Paul ran a marketing communcations agency in the technology industry and is lucky enough to have recently retired. He still works as a Non Executive Director. Elise used to work in advertising, but now spends most of her time trying to lower her golf handicap (so ideally we'd like to be within easy driving distance of a golf course or two). We are all well travelled, and we had a very successful home exchange last year. Although we do have some preferences on destinations, we're always open to other suggestions. We are very house proud and would definately look after your home as if it were our own. Despite being teenagers, Matt and Ross are both very well trained!
